About Algorythm
Fostering Black excellence in software engineering through community, education, and career growth.
Algorythm is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing the careers of Black software engineers. We help engineers build the skills, confidence, and connections needed to succeed in the technology industry through technical interview preparation, skills-based instruction, and community-centered professional development.
We believe talent grows faster in community. That is why our programming is designed not only to help engineers prepare for interviews, but also to support long-term growth through shared learning, practical guidance, and meaningful relationships with peers and industry leaders.
What We Do
Algorythm creates high-quality programming for Black software engineers across multiple career stages. Our programs are built to be practical, rigorous, and directly relevant to today’s hiring environment.
Our core programming includes:
- •Data Structures & Algorithms Bootcamp
- •System Design Bootcamp
- •Technical workshops and peer-led knowledge-sharing events
- •Interview preparation resources for engineers from early-career to Senior+ levels
Whether someone is preparing for their first software engineering role or leveling up for a Senior+ opportunity, Algorythm provides a supportive space to learn, grow, and stay accountable.
Why It Matters
Black software engineers remain underrepresented across the technology industry, and access to trusted, high-quality career support is still uneven. Algorythm exists to help close that gap.
Our work is rooted in the belief that technical excellence and community go hand in hand. We create spaces where Black engineers can sharpen their skills, navigate competitive hiring processes with more confidence, and grow alongside people who understand both the opportunities and challenges of the journey.
At a time when many corporations have deprioritized DEI initiatives, Algorythm continues to fill a critical need with consistent, community-driven support.
Our Impact
Algorythm’s recent programming reflects both depth and reach.
In 2025, we delivered:
- •64+ live, two-hour lectures across Data Structures & Algorithms and System Design
- •Support for 1,000+ Black software engineers through interview prep, skills-based learning, career support, and direct employer connections
- •Opportunities for members to connect with hiring teams at Amazon, Meta, Airbnb, and Ancestry
- •Community programming that contributed to three hires at Amazon showing that our model can translate learning and engagement into real career outcomes
Built With Community, Strengthened by Industry
Algorythm is powered by a community of engineers who teach, mentor, and learn from one another.
We have received industry support from non-members including respected technology leaders:
- •Kelsey Hightower, Distinguished Engineer at Google
- •David Fowler, Distinguished Engineer at Microsoft
- •Calvin Lawrence, PhD, Distinguished Engineer at IBM
Our programming has also been strengthened by support from trusted interview preparation and career development leaders, including Clement Mihailescu of AlgoExpert and Aline Lerner of interviewing.io.
More Than Interview Prep
Algorythm is more than a study group or bootcamp. We are a professional community built to help Black software engineers thrive.
We help members:
- •Strengthen technical fundamentals
- •Prepare for interviews with confidence
- •Learn from experienced engineers and hiring teams
- •Build relationships that support long-term career growth
- •Stay connected to a community that is invested in their success
